Jackson, MS – In case you missed it, as first reported by Mississippi Today, Pete Buttigieg is joining the list of national Democrats who are campaigning for District Attorney Scott Colom, because they know Mississippi is in play. Earlier this week, President Obama cut an ad for Colom and tomorrow, Senator Warnock will stump for Colom in Jackson. Senators Alsobrooks, Blunt Rochester, and Booker.

Mississippi Today: Pete Buttigieg to campaign for Scott Colom in Mississippi

• Former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will campaign for Scott Colom, Mississippi’s Democratic Senate nominee, in cities along the Gulf Coast on Oct. 27, one week before the federal midterm elections.
• Buttigieg, in a statement, said that he is looking forward to joining Colom on the campaign trail and “seeing him elected as the next U.S. Senator from Mississippi.”
• “Scott Colom is the kind of leader we need in the U.S. Senate: rooted in his community and ready to work with anyone to deliver results,” Buttigieg said. “He knows that it is not too much to ask for safer communities, good-paying jobs, and a government that works for people.”
• The announcement marks the latest national Democratic figure to campaign for Colom. Sens. Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware, Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland and Cory Booker of New Jersey visited Mississippi in recent weeks to campaign for the Mississippi Democrat.
• Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia will host a fundraiser, conduct a conversation with faith leaders and headline a campaign rally on behalf of Colom in Jackson on Wednesday. 
• Former President Barack Obama cut an ad on Monday urging Mississippians to vote for Colom ahead of the Nov. 3 election. 
• “Mississippi, it’s time for a change,” Obama said in the ad. “And that’s why you need to send Scott Colom to the U.S. Senate.”
