Jackson, MS — Today, District Attorney and U.S. Senate nominee Scott Colom launched a new ad featuring President Barack Obama, who speaks directly to Mississippians about Colom’s roots in the state, his faith and his record as district attorney.

“Mississippi, it’s time for a change,” President Obama says in the ad. “And that’s why you need to send Scott Colom to the U.S. Senate.”

In a show of support for Colom’s campaign, President Obama describes him as “a devoted husband and dad” and “a seventh-generation Mississippian” who, “guided by his Christian faith,” made his community safer as district attorney. Now, President Obama says, Colom is running “to raise wages, lower costs, and save your healthcare and hospitals.”

“I’m grateful to President Obama for his support, and for speaking directly to the people of Mississippi,” said District Attorney Scott Colom. “I hear it in every county I visit: costs keep going up, families are worried about their health care and their hospitals, and folks feel like Washington stopped listening a long time ago. Mississippians built this campaign, and Mississippians are going to decide this election. Mississippi matters, and together we’re going to get this done.”

The :30 ad begins running this week on digital platforms and radio stations statewide as part of the campaign’s seven-figure paid media buy.
