ICYMI: District Attorney Scott Colom Calls On Cindy Hyde-Smith to Reject AI Super PAC Money
Cindy Hyde-Smith is backed by a major pro-AI Super PAC – and in return, has stayed silent on data center construction and refused to support legislation to protect consumers
This week, District Attorney Colom called for an immediate pause on data center construction
Jackson, MS — In case you missed it, after calling for an immediate pause on data center construction in Mississippi, U.S. Senate candidate and District Attorney Scott Colom challenged incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith to turn down the massive amount of money being spent by a Super PAC backed by AI companies to support her campaign.
An independent analysis found the average Mississippi household is now paying about $10.60 more every month because of AI data centers. That’s why 63% of voters oppose a new data center being built in their community.
“Cindy says families should come first. So, why won’t she protect Mississippi families from paying for data center power upgrades? Maybe it has something to do with the pro-AI data center super PAC spending millions to help her campaign that she pretended to not know anything about,” said District Attorney Colom. “Cindy, now is your chance to turn down the money and put Mississippi first.”
While Hyde-Smith refuses to back legislation to protect Mississippi consumers from cost hikes related to data centers, Colom released his plan this week to protect Mississippi consumers and workers.
